The Menai Bay Conservation Area is not among the mainstream diving locations in the world. It is located on the South Western tip of the Island of Unguja, Zanzibar. This is a large area of volcanic islands, sand banks and coral reefs. In the shallow seas surrounding these islands, there is a large variety of corals and some of the most beautiful  tropical fish and marine life can be found in these waters. Seasonally humpback whales pass through the conservation area for about 3 months from August to October. The Menai Bay is also the home of humpback and bottlenose dolphins. Giant clams are also abundant in the region.  

We have diving possibilities for all, from beginners to experienced divers. Our dive sites range between 10 to 35 meters depth, the water temeperature is between 25-30 °C all year round. 

The underwater life is very rich in this area with a lot of different corals and many different tropical fish. Some examples: puffer fish, box fish, emperor fish, nudibranches, surgeon fish, trumpet fish and moray eels, sea horses, scorpion fish, leaf fish, octopus, blue spotted rays, barracudas, tuna, reef sharks, turtles, dolphins.

One Ocean Matemwe's main dive center is situated just few steps away Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel, where a whale's tail greets you in a whimsical style.

Scuba diving and snorkeling with One Ocean gives you the chance to see a lesser-explored part of Zanzibar, off the beaten track of the usual tourist route. Due to the tide, you'll usually reach dive sites one way by boat and one way by bus - a 30 minute drive on an unpaved road through the traditional Muyuni village. Traditional dhows cruise gently along the coast of Zanzibar.

Mnemba Atoll is the most popular dive site of Zanzibar where there is a great variety of marine life, including a resident pod of dolphins. Stone Town's dive sites are characterised by big beautiful coral gardens, it is also possible to do wreck dives and night dives. 

We conduct all guided dives and PADI courses as per PADI and DAN Safety Standards. East Africa Diving is owned and managed by Michael and Delene Kurz.  We work with a lovely team of Zanzibaris that skipper our boats, take divers diving and snorkeling and teach non-divers how to dive.

We offer half day dive trips to all the northern dive sites and use our fast speed boat for the half day trips to the popular Mnemba Atoll on the north-east coast.

Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre is a large, fully-equipped dive center on Mafia Island, Tanzania. 

The team offer a broad range of shore and boat diving trips to 16+ dive sites around Chloe Bay and beyond. 

Facilities include a large wet-room where you can hang and store your hired or personal diving gear during your stay. Most rental equipment was purchased in 2015-2016, and all is well-maintained and looked after.

There are several dhows (traditional wooden boats) and a fibreglass boat. If the wind is good, it is possible to sail to each dive site.

A full range of recreational, specialty and professional PADI courses are available. 

Dive Point Zanzibar is a small PADI dive center based on site at the Sunshine Marine Lodge. 

Diving takes place on walls, sloping reefs and sandy bottoms interspersed with rocks covered in coral. 

The team offer daily dive and snorkelling trips to the north-east coast of Zanzibar and Mnemba Atoll. Dive trips depart in the morning and come back around lunchtime. During the surface interval, snacks, fruits and water are served.

A range of recreational training courses are taught including Discover Scuba, Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Divemaster. Specialties are available. Course can be taught in English, French, Danish and Polish. 

Facilities include a training pool, spacious classroom, rental gear, small shop and storage area. WiFi is provided throughout. The spacious wooden dive boat is moored out the front of the resort. 

Scubafish Dive Center is a PADI 5-star dive resort located in Matemwe. It is on the north-east of Zanzibar, close to famous Mnemba Atoll. Mnemba Atoll is a beautiful island and its surrounding reefs that measures around 15 square kilometers.

This conservation area is a magnet for divers and snorkelers who enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters, famous for its healthy fish life. Here you can find the playful bottlenose dolphins, turtles, Spanish dancers, giant groupers, sharks, barracudas and other impressive marine life.
