Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at KT12 Wreck

HE KriegsTransporter KT12 - a german one-design 834 ton transport ship- was built in Livorno (Italy) by the OTO Shipyard, and commissioned to the German Kriegsmarine in May, 1943. Torpedoed on 10 June 1943 by the british submarine HMS Safari on its maiden voyage with a cargo of fuel and vehicles for North Africa. The blast from the torpedo ripped away the bow sinking it immediatly about 300 meters away from the actual position of the wreck, while the bowless and burning ship sunk after 41 minutes. There are so much things to see that you can do hundreds of dives and still discover new things. Just to name a few: canon, MG stands, steering wheel, toilet bowl, anchor, machine room, engines, cargo bays, groupers, amberjacks, scorpion fish, and, and, and... Access to the dive site is only by boat as she rests rougly one mile from the harbour of Orosei. As the site is quite hard to find and there are millions of things to see i recommend to go with one of the local dive shops. There may be a mooring line, but usually invisible 3m/10ft under water to avoid that other boats get entangled in it.
