Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Cala Gran

In Cala D'Or, go to "Cala Gran", and look for "Carrer Cabrera" (Cabrera Street). Go by this street to its end, and park your car there, in front of the shore. Walk to the rocks and you'll easily find a concrete alley at your right, leading to the sea after a very short walk. There is a stainless-steel ladder in the summertime that makes going in and out of the water really easy (take care with big waves when rough sea), but it's usually removed during the winter. Anyway, it's easy to get in and out of the water without using the ladder when the sea is fine. From here, you can do THREE DIFFERENT DIVES: - Dive 1: Just after jumping into the water, depth is about 17 m., and the average depth of this dive is about 20 m. (max depth: 26 m.). Following the wall, head to your right (S) and folloow it to turn the little cape that is the Eastern cape of Cala Gran (see map). Before turning it, you'll find a cave with a very big entrance: very large cave with no ramifications, about 20 m long from the entrance to its end. Ceiling's height is about 6 m, but there's a lot of silt in the bottom, take care. Exiting the cave, you'll find some big rocks in front of you with a passage between them leading to the bottom (deepest point of this dive: 26 m) After the cave, always by following the wall, you can continue diving S to turn the Cala Gran's cape, and you'll find lots of rocks with passages among them (here depth is around 15 - 20 m), used as lots of shelters by the marine fauna. LOTS of boats during the summer!!! Sometimes, currents generated by thermoclines. - Dive 2: (max depth: 32 m) Just after jumping into the water you must head underwater (MANY BOATS in the surface: take care!!!) to 100º ( aprox. ESE)for about 275 m. You may dive at a depth of about 10 m. to avoid the boats on the surface and to avoid consuming lots of air as the depth is about 25 m or more and for there's absolutely nothing interesting to see in the bottom until you arrive to a cut, depth 32 m. with interesting landscape. 1 x 18L or 2 x 10L tanks recommended if doing this dive by diving from the shore. - Dive 3: (avg. depth about 20 m.) From the starting point, dive to your left, heading NE and following the wall: lots of rocks in the bottom, wall dive. In Cala D'Or, go to "Cala Gran", and look for "Carrer Cabrera" (Cabrera Street). Go by this street to its end, and park your car there, in front of the shore.
