In the times of the USSR, a top secret submarine base was built inside the rock situated at the passage into Balaklava Bay. The magnitude of this facility will take your breath away, it shapes an underground city. Semi-submersed, submarines used to enter the rock via two canals. The facility could accommodate up to 6 submarines at a time! This factory would shelter in case of atomic bombing and was capable to resist the direct hit of a 100 kilotons bomb. Every detail was in place for life support — food-stuff storehouses, dwelling rooms, kitchens, self-contained air supply system, diesel generators, fuel and water pipelines, underground railways.

Diving takes place in the underground canal, where the main waterworks of this base were located, including a dry dock among an assemblage of metal supports, frames and facilities.

In the old days the small rock was inhabited. It is believed that it was a lighthouse. Large sea-rock impregnable. The birds and the wind. In a place with Bear Mountain cliff Adalary create unique to the southern coast protection from storms, quadrupeds mariners of old. Rich nature and completely safe harbor promoted development in the region, as evidenced by written form and Archaeological materials. Bottom under rocks - it's a museum ages, bound storms. Tight current took the ancients, but whisper their stories remained in the white foam of the surf brothers giants.

Two rocks in the sea is a card Gurzuf Islands - legend rocks - twins. At only 400 meters from the shore, they are an easy target for tourists of all kinds.  You can get here only by water: the oars, the pedals, the rubber ring, swimming or boating. Proposal exceeds demand.

Very nice underwater caves sistem. There are many caves and canyons.

Cape Monastery is accessible only by boat, so the sea condition must be quiet. Dive into the caves in a storm is dangerous. Better take a  motorboat. Boating from Partenit to cape is cheaper, but from Hurzuf more picturesque.

This time we went to Odessa port for diving into Sulina. We had been here 2 times before. Sulina was freight ship of Romanian governmental company SMR (Serviciul Meritim Romania). This company was established at 1896 and to beggining of World War Second had 17 ships.
Sulina was build in 1940 in Palermo, Italy. This ship was ordinary freight. When WW2 starts, Roman Navy took from SMR all ships and use them for transportation of military staff.
In May 1942 Sulina with convoy followed to Niklolayev. Just before Odessa convoy changed. This aquatoria was more or less safe for Germany. Nobody know when and how Soviet submarine appears. Sulina was torpedoed. There are still question, does she sunk because torpedo attack or because she blowed on mine.
