The Pamir is a beautiful wreck of Barbados with much coral growth.  It's being "transformed" into a piece of beauty.  Fish are plentiful in groups as well as in isolation.

The Pamir is accessible by boat since it's located a little to far off the shores.

There is a good reef system there and one wreck.  Depth is not that deep so you can get bottom times.  Lots of animal life from turtles to snake eels. These are very skinny eels that are mostly grey with spots and are not dangerous.

The marine park is on the West side of the island about half way up the island.  It is just a couple of miles North of Holetown.  You go past the Sandy Lane Golf course, the Sunset Mall and then the West Coast Mall.  There are small strip malls.  The entrance to the park is marked by a very small sign on the left side of the road.  If you go by St James Church, you have gone to far.

365 foot Greek Freighter upright. The stern is at 130 and the bow at 70 ft with the deck about 80 ft.

After being sunk on November 22, 1978 as an artificial reef, the Stavronikita has become a popular dive site in Barbados.  She has lots of marine life and years of marine growth.  Her propeller is very common among divers (even at 130ft.)

Carlisle Bay is a roped off area so there is no boat traffic.  The main attraction  are 8 wrecks sunk in the bay.  Lots of different sea life.  Depth is under 60 feet so good bottom times as well.  At the pavilion are many benches to lay gear out and suit up.  Leave nothing on the benches alone while you dive.  It is about a 20 yard walk from the benches to the waters edge.  If you have non-divers with you,  the beach there is very nice too and they can work on their tan.

On the West side of the island, from Oistins, drive north on the main highway with the ocean to your left.  Go past Mojo's Bar, past the Opa restaurant, past St. Ann's Barracks and stop when you see on the left a large blue pavilion (shaped like a gazebo).  Directly across the street is the Prime Minister's Office.  You can park in a lot just before the pavilion....but be aware to get into the parking lot you have to drive over the curb.

This is a great wreck in very shallow water for a wreck.  It's coated in nice coral and fish abound in nooks and crannies.  It's broken up a little bit but still worthwhile.
