The LST was attacked by aircraft from the Carrier Lexington as part of Task Force 58, Operation Snapshot, on July 26 and finished off the following day by aircraft from the Carriers Lexington and Bunker Hill .272  Foot length,  40 Foot beam

The final resting place of LST is just North of Ngargol Island near shore and a large piece of rock that has fallen from the island into the water

The Chuyo Maru was attacked by aircraft from the Carrier Lexington as part of Task Force 58, Operation Desecrate One, on March 30 and again the following day by aircraft from the Carriers Yorktown and Lexington but was not reported to sink until April 1.

Chuyo Maru

502 Foot length, 66 Foot beam
10,000 Ton, Combined Fleet Tanker
Stinging Hydroids cover the marker buoy line to the ship.
She was attacked by aircraft from the Carrier  Enterprise as part of Task Force 58, Operation Desecrate One, on March 30 and finished off the later that day by aircraft from the same Carrier .



From the entrance to Malakal Harbor just around the North pincher a few yards. Often a mooring line on her

Amatsu Maru

321 Foot length,  45 Foot beam
She was attacked by aircraft from the Carrier  Bunker Hill as part of Task Force 58, Operation Desecrate One, on March 30 and sunk

She is a bombed out burned out hulk


North of Ngargol Island and west of Arakabasan Island

Sandy bottom good for dive training or to have lunch on a mooring ball.

Pinchers Lagoon

She was attacked by aircraft from the Carrier Lexington as part of Task Force 58, Operation Desecrate One, on March 30 and finished off the following day by aircraft from the Carrier Yorktown. Her bow is at 60 (18.2 Meters) feet and her stern at 85 feet (26 Meters)



When I last dove her there was a monkey's fist (Big knot)about 10 feet under the surface that you must tie off to.

Ryuko Maru

One of the best snorkeling spots on earth. You will wonder "why go SCUBA..." until you do! The Resort here PPR is an aging resort with bad management and bad plumbing and high prices. It waqs nice many years ago.

Arakababesang Island

387 Foot length, 52 Foot beam
She was attacked by aircraft from the Carriers  Hornet and Montarey as part of Task Force 58, Operation Desecrate One, on March 30 and sunk.



Her final resting place is the middle of Malakal Harbor, just west of Malakal Island


Urakami Maru

An excellent easy dive, guided for the inexperianced. Stalactites and stalagmites to the water's edge, above and below. 4 inner rooms with the first very large. A massive air pocket allows educational information to be shared. A 35 foot deep entry hole opens to the first and largest chamber.



Chandelier Cave

Shallow reef area, great for offgassing between deep dives. A few banded sea snakes
