Sanilac County

Divers will travel far and wide to find the best diving. But those who live in the United States have plenty of great diving on their doorstep as well, with plentiful access to the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. From warm-water reefs to temperate seas, here are some of the top places to scuba dive in the United States.

United States

205' long steamer wreck. This is a good dive for a first timer. Shallow, easy access, can be seen from the boat most days.

The Eliza Strong lies 0.9 miles from Lexington Harbor on a heading of 121 degrees.

Tug, sitting upright on the bottom, nearly completely intact. The Mary Alice B. is recommended for Advanced Divers due to the depth and poor visibility. The Pilot house is intact, and divers can penetrate the engine room, however it tends to silt up quickly. Be careful, know what you're doing.
In 1975, being towed by the Dolphin I, the Mary Alice B began taking on water. Pumping could not keep up, and eventually she sank stern first. She was thought to rest off the Port Sanilac harbor, but was eventually found in 1992 off Lexington Harbor.

This Wreck is Located off Canatara Beach in Sarnia to get to this dive site you need to go east on Michigan Ave to Alfred St and turn right into the parking lot 

Gladstone

The Monarch (St. Clair River) is a 60 foot, wooden hulled, steam powered tug that sank in 1939.  The Monarch is on her starboard side facing up river.  Access into the main cabin allows you to get out of the current.  The boilers and winches can be seen on the aft deck. Visibility can be up to 70 feet, if the wind has been from the south for a week or more.  If there is a stiff north wind blowing, go somewhere else. This is an advanced dive due to the strong currents in the river and the freighter traffic overhead. Don't even think about trying to bring a float & flag with you. Head back when you are down to half of your air.

Located just south of the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia, Ontario.  Entry point is by the large stanchion post about 300 yards south of the bridge.  The local dive club maintains a cable that leads out to the wreck. The site can also be reached by diving on The Barge and drifting down river (see The Barge site).

The Blue water bridge is a nice drift dive, a couple of wrecks. 

St. Clair river, Marine City, Michigan. There is a parking lot just south of Anita's tavern off of the main drag.

Spring Mill Pond has a public beach with changing and bathrooms.  A good place for an afterwork dive or if you have limited time on the weekend.  There are also hiking and biking trails.

One training platform and few thing to find (toilet, paddle boat, etc).  Have seen several large trout and is know to have freshwater jelly fish.

Off H'401 exit 250, about 10k west from there.  Put-in at the shore. 

Innerkip Quarry is also known as Trout Lake.
