Start the dive next to rock's north wall and dive all the way to 60-70 ft. Head towards the reef (west). Then follow the reef and continue north until you find the entrance of a big cave. Enter the cave all the way to the end and you will find a tight exit. No dive light needed. You may exit the cave through this hole only if the surf is calm. Try it, if the current is too strong then back up and return to the deeper waters of the cave entrance. Head back to the boat. Just a 10 minute boat ride from Capurgana's pier halfway to Zapsurro, anchor north of rock island (Peñon Bobo) where the reef begins. Not possible all the time, only when the sea is calm.

Check out the healthy sea life both corals and fishes...and yes you will find beautiful Lion fishes which are public enemy #1 on the caribbean. You may stay at 60ft of venture deeper going north. Check your air and return south at 1200 psi ascending diagonally to save air. Easy access from Capurganá or Sapzurro. 15 minute boat trip to Cabo Tiburón. Anchor just before the small breaking waves in front of the sandy shores and in the somewhat secluded area behind the skerries of the tip of the cape. 40 ft depth.

Best season to dive from August to end of November when the surf is calm. During the rest of the year the surf is too strong. Anchor boat 10 meters behind the islet (south side) located in the northern side of Cabo Tiburon. Start dive to anchor and proceed towards the islet at a startind depth of 12 mt. The plan is to dive around the islet returning to the boat. Continue northeast (use your compass) and depth will gradually increase to 30 mts. Continue for 15 minutes and then use your navigation skills and turn west in order to go around the islet. At the end of the dive and heading south very close to the islet there is a small cave worth visiting. End the dive here and the boat should be just a few kicks away. Short boat ride either from La Miel, Sapzurro or Capurgana. Islote La MIel is also known as Internacional.

Turtle Rock

Colombia, Caribbean, Old Providence

Some of the most fantastic sites, easily accessible and of moderate depths, for those who want to enjoy an exceptional submarine landscape and to observe, in very safe conditions, the life embedded in crevices and walls. Turtle Rock is an enormous rock in the upper toadstool, 40 ft in height; its upper part is a rounded dome, of some 35 ft in length and 20 in width, which resembles the shell of a giant tortoise. The rock, formed by erosion, is separated from the wall by a deep crevice which surrounds it and continues to its base, much thinner than the upper part. The crevice has a dense coral cover, sponges and algae. The crevice and its walls present its own eye-catching communities, typical of vertical and shady walls. Ideal for detailed exploration, preferably with the help of a flashlight to reveal the intense reds and oranges on the concavities next to the rock. The external surface or wall of the rock is open to the ocean and continues to 140 ft, on a cliff face or wall which can be explored in another immersion, as inspection of the rock takes at least 35 minutes of diving.
