The cave is full of prawns. Inside the cave you find a tunnel going vertically down and coming out at 35m. Anchoring in the bay, swim and later dive to the s-corner. At the corner begin the dive following the wall. After 25m distance you find the cave entrance in about 28m. Going in the cave you can come out in 35m depth. Following the wall another 20m s-wards you reach the deep wall going down to 60m. Ducates cave and deep wall is also known as Dukatenhöhle und steile Wand.

Northeast point of Scorpidi island

In the third cave because of the fresh water you can not see very good in the first 3m when you dove to the surface! You have to let you fall down to the bottom of the cave to find the exit! Anchor in the area of the over water cave. Dive inside the cave with ground at 10m. The cave goes inside the mountain for a distance of about 80m and has 3 chambers. the third one is completely dark and full of fresh water. Orientation is not so easy and dangerous for non experienced cave divers.

Nisos island

The History Just ten minutes by boat from the cost shipwreck "Mitilini" is located. Under the German flag cargo ship has sunk in autumn 1961 2 miles northeast of the coast of Sani and northwest of the rift "Kipsa" at the distance of 600 m of the shore. It sank by a breakedge due to a crash in the propeller during a severe storm it drifted in the open of the tower of Sani. According to the later captain of cargo ship Mr. T. Ananidas who was one of the younger member of the crew "Mitilini" was an old river ship made in 1941, an then again renovated to perform voyages in the line of Mitilini - Thessaloniki. It was a cargo ship it carried barrels of wine and groceries. But unfortunately it didn't make it. A gigantic wave threw the ship to the shore dragging the stern on to the rocks. Luckily there were no casualties just the cargo was lost. By the passing of the ages the wreck had been transformed into a living reef full of sea flora and fiona: fish like blackfish, gruper, congerell, octapuses, crayfish, sponges, corals, sea anemones, spirographs, piners and lots of little fish and a variety of shellfish find refuge in every lonely corner of the sunken ship. However during summer there appear big sea fish like tuna and sword fish. The bridge of the shipwreck, the big and the small storeroom, the tow track of the imposing prow, the crashed stern, the spread bottles all over' the ship remained there from the last cargo. Also dozen meters of rope, nets and large fishing nets spread along the deck of the ship, complete the sightseeing of the wrack during the dive. The wreck "Mitilini" rests today in the sandy depths n Sani in the distance of 20 meters. Underwater Tunnel - The most interesting tunnel to explore! Starting from the surface, dividing into 3 different smaller tunnels, and with an exit like a butterfly, makes it ideal not only for U/W Photography, but mostly for every Cave Diver "to be"! Many Customers told us, that we should rename this Cave into "Butterfly Cave"! If you exit the tunnel, you enter a reef with a lot of white sand, that is why the site is called White Reef.

The M/V Portugal hit the southwest side of the reef.As a result of this collision the ship broke in to two pieces. The biggest of them sunk on the reef. Today one of those pieces of Portugal is lying in a depth of 26 to 40 meters offering another exciting diving spot in the reef. Portugal wreck is also known as Ship wreck Portugal.

Big Cave is also known as Agios Pavlos.

One truly beautiful and unique cave beginning from the surface and ending at -20 meters.

Along the island walls, the scenery is quiet dramatic with the pentagonally shaped rock forming like an undersea temple. Other than that, there are big patches of sea grass. Sadly, because of overfishing, there isn't a lot of marine life. From Pollonia harbor go west until you reach Glaronissia (the Seagull Island). The island is easily recognizable by its strange rock formations that look like stacks of pentagonal bars. This structure come from slow cooling of andesitic lava. There is a hole in the island which divers usually go through at the end of the dive as it makes an interesting safety stop. Also in april-jun the island is home of a Gull colony during nesting. Glaronissia (Seagull Island) is also known as Γλαρονήσια.

The Million Yellow Anemones Cave Wonderful large cave with at least 3 openings in the vertical or lightly overhanging wall, not so obvious access from outside. Thousands of yellow anemones or solitary coral that look like gold embedded in the rock, briozoans, shrimps, sponges, cardinal fish... Amazing atmosphere looking at the blue lights from inside the cave. A marvel of nature. Possible to reach from Beach with taverna from the East as I did it with 2 tanks but very long swim, much more convenient from boat. Can't wait to go back !

This is shallow spot,you can see the top reef even from boat. The west side is shallower than the east side, there are hundreds of broken amphoras from many many years and types, there is no remains from a wreck as wooden pieces but the different types and periods broken amphoras are still there. İf you look very carefully you can see very nice pieces. The top is 2-3 meters, the west side side goes down to 12 meters, the east side goes till 25 meters, it's an interesting and easy dive site. When I was running a dive center in Psarou Beach we were visiting very often. Good old days! You can by boat from Psarou or Platy Yialos beaches, with someone that knows the spot. Prasonisi is also known as Prasonisi Ksera.

Antipaxoi Beach is also known as Antipaxos Beach.

- Interesting cave tunnel 16 to 22m filled with shrimps during daytime. Can be VERY narrow depending on sand configuration, be extra careful. - Cave with old fishing net 6 to 8m - Interesting seascape : deep canyons, mounts, widespread grasslands, flat stones, etc. - Have seen once school of several hundreds barracudas. Turtle if lucky. Better be guided, can be boring going randomly. Use a surface buoy when close to harbour, fast and uncaring boat traffic. From road Lefkogia - Plakias take direction Kalypso Cretan Village after 500m, left turn on a very small road towards small fishing harbour Old Damnoni Harbour is also known as Damnoni Bay West Side.

Accessed by a short boat trip from Laganas. The Arch is also known as Arc de Triomphe.

Romvi Island backside bay - nice and sheltered area ideal for beginners in diving and for UW-photographers. Large sandy areas with minor boulders providing hide for abundant octopus. This locality sometimes offer the sea hare - a large naked gastropod similar to nudibranchs. The sea hare does however possess a shell - but it is internal within the snails mantle. Scuba diving is permitted in this area. Romvi South is also known as Romvi bay.

Largely overfished. Abundance of abandoned nets and fishing lines. Interesting rock formation for a one shot dive. Specially the zone east from the 3 rocks, easily accessible from the eastern beach. Good for snorkeling and shallow free diving. Lots of stuff brought by currents or lost by swimmer and boaters to be retrieved :) The 3 rocks and their underwater extension area can be exposed to currents. That area is a large flat rocky block cut by narrow canyons.

Very easy to access but not very exciting site consisting of rock formations and Posidonia meadows. Towards the South there are few interesting small canyons, (small) caves and swim-throughs. If you are lucky you might encounter schools of bigger fish. The site is very easily accessed. Entry is from a small beach located right after the Monastery and the Orthodox Academy

Beautiful volcanic reef

After 10-20m distance you find the big entrance of the cave in about 8-25m. The cave is very big, the entrance has a diameter of about 20-30m. The cave goes inside the mountain for about 50-60m. At the end you can go to the surface, you see a big cavern. Attention: there is fresh water inside, so the visibility in about 1-3m at the end of the cave is like oil. You anchor the boat a bit more inshore the bay and you dive in 10m depth at the wall direction outside the bay.

More a snorkeling than scuba diving site. The 2 nearest rocks around the corner have some nice little swimtrough but it's a long swim from the shore. Plakias area. "Galini" Taverna

History of the wreck is unknown. Bow section standing up from the bottom at around 12-13 metres. Other debris including the anchor and chain are scattered around. 5-10 minute swim north you will find a section of the centre hull wall lying flat with some other debris. Cavern Paradise!!! A sheltered bay, with 6 caverns, one after the other! Eventually, inhabited by a monk-seal! In most of these Caverns, divers can ascent to the surface, and 2 of them, include a small lake, inside the mountain! Many Sulfur springs in the area, remind their presence, through the "fantastic" smell of Sulfur.

On 24th July 1981 the cargo ship Marianna with capacity 2.999 freight tons filled with barley, iron sheets, water pipes – irrigation and fertilizers collided with a reef, now known as Amara, filled with water and sank. The 24 people whom comprised the crew evacuated safely. The ship had been launched from the dock Aaneveming's Bedrij Ijesel of Goringhem in Holland in 1961...

Dive on a very new volcanic island (it last erupted in 1956) in the center of an old exploded volcano, who's caldera is open the sea. There isn't a lot of life, but the water is clear, and there are some quite interesting lava formations here. The bottom in the crater drops away to hundreds of meters... The 34 m long steel wreck lies at 13 m in the harbor, and is actually visible below the surface in the Google Maps photo, so it isn't hard to find.

The north side of the reef is actually a complex of very big rocks that offer shelter to some very impressive groupers. It a dive for the more experienced divers since the depth reaches 40 meters. At the end of this complex a wall begins from about 35 meters deep giving the chance for a multilevel profile which allows the diver to enjoy the biggest part of the reef. The groupers nest is also known as Nest.

The waterbed is ideal for multilevel dives up to 45 meters, the marine life is rich, impressive rocks dominate the place and with large walls, constitute a unique and exciting seascape. Diving in Dias is a constant exploration, ideal also for night dives. Steps unfold, depth increases, as you stay admiring the seascape. Encounters with rays and wide sea fishes are often. Dias always has something new in stock for divers. Catfish, flying fish and john dories could be anywhere around. A small island N.W of Amouliani Island. It is quite a large place with alternative routes for all divers levels.

At the gps-position you are at he top of the migale iphalos (big reef) with 3m depth. The reef 300m long goes N-S. The reef starts 50m north of the over water cave at "punta diabolo". Migale Iphalos is also known as Großes Riff.

Leonidio Bournias is also known as Leonidion.

Not worth a scuba dive. Only Sand in front of this beach. If sea is flat, you can visit the few cracks, tunnels, caverns between Amoudaka and Damnoni beaches. Beach Bar open during high touristic season, sun beeds, shades for rent. Amoudaka Beach is also known as Pigs Bay - Nudist Beach.

Wide Cave with 2 "halls" on the 22-20m bottom (sandy). Long vertical chimney with some entrances for sunlight. Entrance walls well decorated. Sandy bottom with posidonia fields in front of the cave. Boat can be easily anchored in the southern bay (5-6m depth) Cave entrance is at about 20m depth. diving up on the northern wall brings you on some kind of "steps", trough nice little canyons with wide cracks. Return to the anchorage bay passing over the cave trough the slowly released bubbles trapped on its ceiling. Kalypso, Plakias

The Avantis III was a 79m long vessel build in 1977. She sunk November 19th, 2004. The wreck lies on its port side; the bow is 18m deep and the propeller at 41m deep. The stern port side is near 47m. Southern side of Dorusa Island.

Rock formation from 20m sandy bottom to 2m depth, large boulders around. Heard that the top of the rock was above the surface until around 1995 then it broke down because of so much explosives fishing there ! Swimtrough, boulders, cracks, holes, wall. Lot of small fish but no big ones in october 2015. Ok to dive once but I don't think I would go back. Not sure of the exact location Papadoplaka is also known as Dynamite Rock.

Paliouri

Diving and snorkeling to Tragonisi island cavern/cave system is one of the most popular dives. Everybody can admire a unique marine environment among the different chambers/tunnels. Yellow sea anemones are exclusively found in this area. Cavern diving is the exploration of permanent, naturally occurring overhead environments while remaining within sight of their entrances. Diving at the "Seal Cave" is available only for experienced divers and only upon request. Its a unique dive due to possibilities for a closer encounter with a Monachus monachus seal. Northeasterns side of Tragonisi Island. Only 10 min from Mykonos diving center. Caverns is also known as Seal Cave, Tragkonisi Island caverns.

West side has nice walls with various polished shapes. Front of the beach is a sandy and pebbles area with small rocks covered with growth and tube worms. East Side with a tunnel directly from the beach then small caverns. Small fish all over the place. Not enough hiding places for big ones. Good for training. The road to the beach is linked to the fuel station north side of the road. If you come from Rethymno, it's safer to stop at the opposite fuel station to cross carefully the road. Spilies is also known as Tou Maliou to Riaki.

The wall is slighty steeped to 15 meters and then to 35. Around the sites there are 3 or 4 big groupers. The drop off is at 22-24m and drops down to 35m vertically with some caverns. I got there with Pelagos Dive Centre, which are really good. There are 5 or 7 dive sites with buoys to use. The dive sites are separated about 200-300 meters each one.

The cargo vessel Apollonia II built in 1955 hit the reef the 10th of June 1980. Today it offers a very nice dive to both novice and advanced scuba divers. Two of the biggest parts of the ship (the bow and the stern) are lying in relatively shallow water (18-24 m). Combined with the excellent visibility this site offers it's definitely a site worth revisiting. Apollonia II wreck is also known as Apolonia wreck.

At the cape in the blue you sometimes can see barracudas and tooth-brawns. You see the cape an the over-water arch from seaside. Co inside the bay for 20 or 30m, depending on the sea conditions. Anchor at 18m depth. Dive at 15-18m direction cape. You´ll find a cave/tunnel in about 18m at the GPS position. Go thru, dive towards the cape, you find a second cave in about 15m. then dive shallow and come from seaside to the over-water arch. You can dive through the arch in minimum 3m depth.

It's not one of the really good dives but ok. I think for profis it's boring. It is a very easy dive, with 2 car wrecks, reef, octopus. It starts from the beach, directly next to the diving centre Creata's Happy Divers (a ok diving centre). You dive in max. 3m over a rock field (good for snorkelling) to a wall, it goes down to a sand ground on 9m deep. There are 2 car wrecks. In lot of holes with octopuses. It's ok. More for beginners then for profis. Have fun! At the coast. Near the harbour Corallbeach is also known as Home Reef.
