If you were a dive operator and you wanted to pick the best place to have a dive shop…this would be it. Grab your tank walk across the street, very little traffic, walk into the ocean (usually the surf is low) sometimes the surf kicks up in the Winter but that does not mean the visibility is bad. Kick out on your back for 100 yards. Drop down and find NIRVANA. Wall is incredible (starts at 60 feet) get as narc'd up as you can stand (or Nitrox available), surface and walk across the street. The bar serves food and the Dark Cruzan Rum will is SMOOOOOTH! I LIKE IT!!!

I'm going back to St. Croix in March 08. I lived on St. Croix for 6 months. The best thing about the pier was when you had bad weather on the island you could always go to the protected West coast pier. Don't pass up the small creatures on the pier columns. Really! Look at the small stuff. You will not be disappointed! You will see Seahorses, tons of small crabs, Sea Slugs, a Frog fish or two, Barracudas and Turtles. Lightly touch a small Christmas tree worm and see what they do. You can rent a tank across the street and jump in the water. Convenient.

I dived in the lake when I rented a House Boat. BTW, nice vacation. Easy diving, but when you get to 25 ft depth you hit the cold water. Takes your breath away. During the summer you can dive without a wet suit. Very little fish and lots of rocks. OK visibility closer to the Dam, but it's bad after a rain storm. If you HAVE to dive fresh water, this is pretty good. Remember to use less weight than you do in salt water. Have FUN!
