West of North Star is the Carambola Resort. They allow guest divers. A new dive shop has taken up residence at the resort - Sweet Bottom Divers. They have a 4 wheel gator that will take you and your gear to a deck they have built on the West side of the resort, where the beach sand entry point is. They have Air only, no Nitrox. Go out to the buoy and head West. Pristine, untouched diving.

Dived spring 2009 & 2010. North star heading West has a large Green eel residing in the cave. Northstar heading East has 2 large Green eels residing in a small cave between 2 coral heads. There is a 7 foot Nurse shark that has been hanging out that will come up to you, but is not aggressive. Several Turtles.

Call before you go over. If ships are in they won't allow you to dive there.

I have dived St Croix in 2007 & 2008 in spring. North Star and twins Palms are side by side. Great dive. Long swim. Twin palms (across from Willie's Wish) is easier entry as there is some sand and flat coral surface. North Star is very rocky. There are 2 dilapidated house farther down next to a dirt road that goes to the beach. You can enter there also, go down and head east & also reach north star and still make it back to where you came in. Warning: your rental car will be probably be broken into & contents stolen. There is a rash of car break-ins along the north shore. They wait for divers to go in and then get into your car. Stash your belongings in the brush. There is also great diving directly behind the Carambola Resort. Far west end of the resort beach is all sand & very easy entry. Go out to buoy & head west. Current is no problem below 40 feet on north shore. The St Croix reef is very healthy. Lots of life. Several Turtles. A medium size sting ray will allow you to touch it.

See my North Star review. I dove St Croix 2007 & 2008 in Spring. Cane Bay entry is right across from Cane Bay dive shop. Enter by or very near the cement ramp. If you go straight out, this will be a deeper dive. If you head slightly west from the ramp, it is more shallow dive. Beware of rental car break ins. They are hitting the diver's cars when they go in the water & are under.
