I just finished two days of diving at Philips quarry, February 26 and 27, 2012. I was very pleasantly surprised about this quarry. The vis ranged from 15 feet to ~40+ feet at different parts. The depth is ~45 to 55ft in about 90% of the quarry. There is lots of stuff to see; cars, boats, airplane fuselage, a giant storage tank on its side and penetrable. The staff at the local dive shop, www.leaird-scuba.com, which owns the quarry, was very friendly and accommodating. Other than Gilboa in Ohio, Philips quarry is one of the best places to dive at in the midwest in the winter-time when everything else is closed or has ice on it. Philips quarry generally has ice only from January to mid February, but in 2012 ice was present only for about 2 weeks in January. Most of my local dives are at Wazee and lake Michigan and I highly recommend Philips Quarry in the Winter time.

As far as water clarity, this is the best vis I've seen in any inland lake other than lake Michigan.
