Crystal River on 10/23/2012
Snorkeling the river here is great. Manatees are so friendly here they will come right up to you. You can snorkel the river but you need to be a little clever about finding an entry location. There are a few parks on the river that have access. To see manatees in the river you need to go in the fall to spring when the ocean gets too cold for them. The best time is when they start coming in in the fall. We had dozens come up to us last time we were there.
St. Andrews Jetties, Panama Beach on 10/23/2012
Great time snorkeling! Saw a large Octopus and a Manta Ray. One of the easiest snorkeling places for kids. You need to tow a dive flag for the channel side (and only go during slack tide) but the kiddy pool and the beach side of jetty on the ocean is ok without one.
La Jolla Cove on 10/23/2012
Harbor seals and sea lions are really playful and fun to snorkel with. If you are in to that sort of thing then you will not be let down.

This is one of the best shore snorkeling places in Florida. We saw a 3 1/2' Nurse Shark a sea turtle and lots of tropicals. The best places to snorkel are near the pier and anywhere the water is shallower. One of our fav's is the area past the buoy near the end of the pier on the south side. In the deeper areas you are a little far up to see the fish. Parking is hard to get on the weekend. During the week you can find parking easily for $1.50 an hour. We are a full time traveling family of 7 and are trying to snorkel every Florida location on this site. I will be posting videos and more information about our snorkeling adventures at our travel site NeverEngingRVTrip.com Hope this review helps! Happy Snorkeling!
