Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Iglesia de Mediano

You will dive around a church built in the 16th century which is what is left of the village of Mediano flooded in the 60's when the dam was built. Visibility is good enough despite it is a lake. Spring is the best time as depth is bigger. In summer after a rainy spring/winter is a good time too and water is warmer. Getting inside the church possible only through the tower as the main entrance was closed with a wall a few years ago. From the A-138 Barbastro to France via Bielsa tunnel. Next to the new village of Mediano turn to "Presa de Mediano" From the shore of the lake to the tower there might be a good 150m swim depending on the water level. You will see another road going along the other side of the gully that might take you closer to the tower depending again on the water level. Access to this road less than a km further north along the A-138. You can go by car to the edge of the water.
