Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at The Bells

The Bells is not for the claustrophobic. Enter the narrow pool at the top of the formation from the left-hand ledge. Only leap in if you are quite confident in your jumping control; otherwise you might crack your skull on the opposite side. Once in the water, descend straight down either head-up or head-down. Space is tight, so single file is mandatory. Exit at the bottom near 30m and proceed south and progressively shallower along a well-encrusted wall with giant elephant-ear and many other coral species. Check the blue side for pelagics. After the unique entry and the nice wall drift, you will find the saddle of the Blue Hole. Enter the Blue Hole and exit easily at that site. Because of depth and tight spaces on the entry, this is a dive for moderately experienced divers. The Bells is a narrow crack in the shore-hugging reef that lies about 200 meters north of the Blue Hole site. A sign points to it from the dirt road within about 25 meters of the entry. Since all diving in Dahab is guided, your local guide will know exactly where to go.
