Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at The Bluehole

Although it can get crowded with day-trip snorkelers, this is a fun, easy dive. The site is, as indicated, a deep blue hole in the shore-hugging coral reef. It is an easy, sheltered dive - but dangerous to those who try to penetrate the deep outlet below recreational depths. If entering at the short wooden pier, skirt shallow on either side to the saddle that opens to the Gulf of Aqaba, then continue the dive outside the hole and back. If not being used by free divers, navigate across the center of the hole to experience (without fear of being utterly lost) a moment of being in "nothing but blue". The hole is just far enough across that you cannot see either edge when in the very middle. Blue Hole is a shore dive site about 10 minutes north of the small coastal town of Dahab. The entry on the site is well marked and cannot be mistaken.
