From the entry spot you can start on a sandy part that brings you to a nice shallow-depth reef, direction South, at only 50 m from the beach. Divers friendly fish, wrasse, parrot fish, blue fin, breams, lizard, scorpion, morray eels (dotted, brown and tiger), octopus (common and spotted), cuttlefish, trumpetfish, nudibranches, shrimps, cardinal, abundant vegetation, the local diving centre removed most of Diadema Antillarum sea urchins and keep the are clean. After the reef, 140° through a sandy area with sea grass until the next reef, from 12 m, angel shark (abundant during the winter and all night dives), stingrays (common and round), eagle ray, bull ray, electric ray, butterfly ray, big schools of barracudas, damselfish, sardines, big anchor spotted at 15 m depth. Small caves full of trumpetfish and schrimps. To move further to the east and spot interesting volcanic rock formations and bigger rays you should rent some DPV scooters which can bring you very close to the lighthouse. Motorway TF-1 halfway between Los Cristianos - Las Americas and Santa Cruz; exit Abades, drive down the main road to the square where are located the restaurants and the local diving centre. Access to the beach behind the square, walk to you left, the entry point is at 3/4 of the beach on a comfortable sandy area.

Enter the water via the man made sea pool. Swim under the little bridge, and drop down to the sand just out from the rocks. Look for the metal pipe (diameter approx 50cm) just to the right, and follow this out to the wreck. Easy. Always seems well protected from wind, even with a strong NE. Turn off the TF1 motorway at Tabaiba, and drive all the way to the sea. Theres a small car park at the bottom of a steep hill.

Description: WWII Minesweeper Depth: 30 metres WW2 German minesweeper used in later life as a dolphin viewing ship from Los Cristianos. The vessel was purposely sunk on 23rd October 2005. This dive is very interesting as the wreck is intact and upright. We have spotted a resident grouper on numerous dives and lots of rays. The wreck is making an interesting artificial reef for the future as marine life starts to flourish. We load the boat, Celtic Wave, in Las Galletas Marina and take the short journey of 10 minutes to Palm Mar to the site of El Meridian.

Start this dive on a bouy situated on a large rock, between 8 and 12m deep, usually surrounded by dozens of Zebra Seabreem (Diplodus cervinus). In the many cracks live Black Morays (Muraena augusti) and Brown Morays (Gymnothorax unicolor), sometimes accompanied by the rare Goldentail moray (Gymnothorax miliaris). Continue along the edge of a bank that runs parallel to the shore. Stick to a maximum depth of around 20m as below this depth the marine life diminishes considerably. Here you'll find an abundance of large Dusky Grouper (Epinephelus marginatus). Return to the boat crossing through a labyrinth formed by lava flows, where we find groups of trumpetfish (Aulostomus strigosus) and Island Groupers (Mycteroperca fusca) mixing with thousands of ornate wrasse (Thalassoma pavo). It's an easy dive. There´s a field of rocks and mooring blocks, that turns into flat sand at the mouth of the bay. Some small fish, and TURTlES! The turtles are there daily. Many people feed them, so they aren't shy. Normally there isn't any current. There are usually other divers. Be carfully with the many fishermen and boat traffic. All in all it's a nice and easy dive for all divers. Have fun! Follow the TF1 motorway until it terminates (at adeje, although the motorway will soon be extended). Turn left, towards the sea, direction Armeñime. Turn off this mainroad BEFORE Armeñime, and pass the camel park. Follow the road all the way down to the sea, and you should end up in El Puertito.

Only 2 mins by boat from the harbour, the mooring buoy is located in the corner of the port wall and a rocky bar that enters the sea in North-South direction. This bar extends out to the open sea and creates a great wall dive. Follow the bar, reaching a maximum depth of 20 meters. At the end of the route there is a horizontal ledge where Dusky Groupers (Epinephelus marginatus), Barred Hogfish (Pseudolepidaplois scrofa) and some Canary lobsters (Panulirus echinatus) usually they take refuge . On the way back to the anchor line you can see groups of trumpet fish (Aulostomus strigosus) and groupers (Mycteroperca fusca). In the cracks near the anchor line it is possible to find Porcupinefish (Chilomycterus reticulatus) and, in the winter months, there are often the endangered Angle Shark (Squatina squatina) half-buried in the sand. Los Chuchos is the Spanish name for "the stingrays", and this is one of the most popular dive sites on Tenerife. The site established by the Los Gigantes Diving Centre at the beginning of 1996. It is now so well established that large numbers of stingrays and eagle rays are attracted and will gently take food from the hand of a diver. The site has been featured in several magazine articles, both in the UK and internationally. Some of our customers have dubbed this site "Stingray Village", as they put it, "why go all the way to Cayman Brac when you can have the same thrill on Europe's doorstep". As many as six different species of Ray have been seen in one dive and occasionally we are blessed by a visit from a rare and elusive Bull Ray. The nature of the site means that large pelagics and predators such as barracuda, jacks and tuna are also frequently seen. Who knows what may make an appearance!!! A depth of 18 -20 metres makes it a site suitable for all qualified divers with recent experience Its a boat dive Los Chuchos is also known as The Rays.
