Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at The Breakers

This is one of the best, if not the best shore dive anywhere within a hundred miles of here. The water is usually more clear than nearby sites, and the variety, and number of fish and coral is pretty much unmatched. I have seen French, and Blue Angelfish, Parrotfish, Moray Eels, Porgy, Puffers, Damsels, and a whole lot I could not identify. Some of the ledges there get up to six feet, and are quite impressive. There is less hard corals here than at Vista park, but more sponges and similar numbers of soft coral. From the I-95 get off at Palm Beach Lakes blvd in west palm beach. Go east until Dixie highway(US1) then go south until Quadrille (also called Royal Poinciana in places) go east on this across the intercoastal. Then go north on N County Road, take a quick right onto Sunset avenue. At the end of this road there is two hour parking, park there and swim directly out, there are a few reefs that go as deep as 25 feet.

So far the best beach dive I've done while in S. FL, I've lived here 2 yrs and dove all along the coast from Ft Pierce to Palm Beach. We went after work and were able to park in the permit only spots, right near the beach! Vis was spectacular and reef was pretty good for a beach dive. Current was strong and wish I would have taken that into account when I was kicking out. Also maybe should have kicked out a little further. I would definitely recommend.

Checked out this site over the weekend. Parking has changed on Sunset Ave to 'by permit only from 8:30am-5:30pm'. Had to drop off equipment and find parking up the street. Water visibility was great, but current and length of swim to reef could be difficult for some.

This is the best sight seeing shore dive I have done. While it is too heavily dove for game divers, it has an amazing abundance of fish, and corals right off the beach. If you are diving in this part of Florida make sure to stop here at least once.
