Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Belcarra Bay
An excellent park for the kids, with picnic and playground facilities. For you divers, expect a rocky reef just off shore with all the small marine creatures you'd expect!
From South of Vancouver's Second Narrows Bridge, head East on 7A for about 14km, parallel the Burrard Inlet. Wrap around Port Moody by taking a left on Ioco Road. In 4.5km, take a right on 1st Ave, and in 0.7km turn left on Bedwell Bay Road for another 5km. You'll see the park on your left.

Looking just off the swimming beach.
The entry is down the steps, and gently slopes into the water.
Just of a view of the grounds. Parking and refreshment stand are in the background.

The parking lot is large, but fills up quickly. It's a 200 meter hike to the water's edge, but you can drive closer to the entry and drop off gear, if you wish.

Easy shore or dock entry, silty bottoms can be stirred easily by a novice with bad buoyancy control but overall a fun dive. A ton of red rock and dungeones crab and large mass of sea stars live right under the dock. Seriously a lot to explore right around the dock, hazards include jellyfish, people that drop crab traps on you, a frisky seal that likes to play tug of war with your crab trap and the occasional small boat.

This was an OK dive. The swim out to the marker was longer than planned. If you do go past the reef marker you end up on a sandy bottom. Did not see very much fish life but did see some bull kelp. Maxed out at 40 to 45 feet which made for a nice long dive. On weekends look out for small boat traffic (kayaks) and larger boat traffic if you do go past the marker. Might try it again as a night dive

Great site for beginner divers. Life on & under dock, with a small rock reef off shore. Sandy bottom with plenty of sea stars and crabs. Easy entry and exit points.

Did one of my first dives here. A very easy dive. Easy entry and all round nice dive.
